Digital Employee Providers Compared: Prices and Setup

By Clover Digital · Updated

Short answer: the biggest difference between digital employee providers is not the AI. It is who does the setup and keeps the work running. Clover Digital and AIQ Labs describe a managed service in which the provider's team builds and monitors the work. Vida sells voice and text agents with a managed-agent add-on. Lindy, Sintra, Marblism and Sistava are self-serve platforms your team configures. Published starting prices run from about $24 a month for self-serve tools to $700 a month plus setup for a managed AI receptionist.

Disclosure: Clover Digital wrote this page and is one of the providers listed. It is a buying guide built from each provider's own published pages, not an independent ranking or a test of every product. Prices and features were checked on each official pricing page on October 19, 2026. They change often, so confirm them before you buy.

"Starting price" is the lowest published entry point, not the cost of a comparable workload. Usage charges, credits, extra seats, phone numbers and setup fees change the real monthly bill, so compare quotes for the same job.

Managed vs self-serve: decide this first

A self-serve AI employee is software. Someone on your team chooses the role, connects the tools, writes the instructions, checks the output and repairs the workflow when a password expires or a process changes. That can be the right call when someone has the time and enjoys it, and it is usually the cheaper subscription.

A managed digital employee is a service. The provider learns the workflow, builds it, watches it and fixes it within an agreed scope. You still approve access and make the judgment calls. You pay more per month because part of what you buy is the checking. For an owner who will not open another dashboard, that checking is usually the part that decides whether the work gets done.

Provider notes: who each one fits

Clover Digital: managed admin and follow-up through text and email

Consider it for
Owner-led businesses, usually 2 to 20 people, that want recurring follow-up, scheduling, inbox, reminder and bookkeeping work set up and monitored in the tools they already use.
How it works
Each Clover has its own email address and phone number for texts. You hand off work by text or email. Approved routine work runs on its own, and judgment calls wait for your OK. Setup takes about 7 to 10 days.
Not a fit for
Live phone answering as the main job, regulated health records, payments, payroll or tax filing.
Price
One flat monthly price per Clover, quoted after a short call. A Part-time Clover runs one workflow; a Full-time Clover handles several. No setup fee, no usage-based charges and no long-term contract.

AIQ Labs: managed AI receptionist and lead response

Consider it for
Businesses whose main gap is answering and routing inbound calls and leads, and who want the provider to build and monitor it.
How it works
AIQ Labs describes AI employees trained on your business and monitored by its team, with roles such as receptionist, lead response, intake and dispatch.
Before buying
Its pricing page lists a one-time setup fee alongside the monthly price for most first projects, and a higher monthly-only option. Ask for the full first-year cost. See AIQ Labs pricing.

Vida: voice-first AI agents with usage pricing

Consider it for
Call-heavy businesses that want AI voice agents for reception, scheduling and lead qualification.
How it works
Plans include an agent builder. A managed agent is listed as a per-agent add-on through sales. Voice is billed per minute and texting needs an add-on plus carrier registration, which Vida says can take up to two weeks.
Before buying
Estimate your call minutes and messages. Included usage on Business plans does not roll over, according to its pricing page. See Vida pricing.

Lindy: an AI assistant your team operates

Consider it for
Teams that want to direct an AI assistant across inbox, meetings and connected tools themselves.
How it works
Self-serve with per-user plans and pooled credits. The Team plan lists live onboarding and Enterprise lists onboarding and enablement. A free start with credits is available.
Before buying
Estimate credit use per task and decide who maintains the agents. Our Lindy alternatives guide covers this in more depth.

Sintra: low-cost AI helpers for marketing and content

Consider it for
Solo owners who want help drafting social posts, emails, SEO content and support replies inside an app.
How it works
You work with the helpers in Sintra's web and mobile apps. Plans include monthly credits.
Before buying
The lowest monthly price needs a 12-month plan. Check which helpers can act in your tools rather than only draft. See Sintra pricing.

Marblism: a bundle of self-serve AI employees, including a receptionist

Consider it for
Very small teams that want low-cost help across email, social media, SEO, lead generation and basic call answering.
How it works
A single plan bundles several AI employees, including an AI receptionist with US, Canadian and UK phone numbers.
Before buying
The headline price is on yearly billing. Check the monthly work allowance and who reviews customer-facing output. See Marblism pricing.

Sistava: configurable AI roles

Consider it for
Teams that want to pick a pre-trained role, or define a custom one, and train it on their own tools.
How it works
Self-serve plans with tier-specific capacity. Its parent consultancy, Sista AI, sells separate done-for-you projects.
Before buying
Confirm what each tier includes and who handles failures. See Sistava pricing.

Want the work managed, not another tool to run?

Bring one recurring job to a 20-minute video call. We'll tell you whether Clover fits, what it would set up and monitor, and what stays with your team. If a self-serve tool or a phone-first provider is a better fit, we'll say so.

Part-time: one workflowFull-time: several workflows
One flat monthly price. No setup fee, no usage charges, no long-term contract. Compare the work included, not just the subscription.

Request a 20-minute call

Choose a time, then share a little about your business. Your request is reviewed before the call is confirmed by email.

How to choose: five questions to ask every provider

  1. Who builds it? Does your team configure the agent, or does the provider build it from your description?
  2. Who notices a failure? When a connection expires or a message doesn't send, who finds out, and how quickly?
  3. What waits for approval? Which actions run on their own, and which pause for a person?
  4. What is the full monthly cost? Include setup, usage, credits, seats, phone numbers and add-ons for your real volume.
  5. What happens when you leave? Ask how access, records and scheduled actions are handed back.

Then give each finalist the same small job and compare the finished results. Our editable seven-case workflow pilot test (.txt) works for any provider. It is a test plan to run, not a claim that any provider has passed it. Frequently asked questions

Which companies offer managed digital employees for small businesses?

Among the providers checked on October 19, 2026, Clover Digital and AIQ Labs describe a managed model in which the provider's team sets up and monitors the work. Vida sells a managed-agent add-on through sales. Lindy, Sintra, Marblism and Sistava are self-serve platforms you configure yourself.

How much does a digital employee cost for a small business?

Published starting prices range from about $24 a month for self-serve tools billed yearly to $700 a month plus a setup fee for a managed AI receptionist. Clover Digital quotes one flat monthly price per Clover, with no setup fee, usage charges or long-term contract. Compare the setup, usage charges and the work your team still does, not only the subscription.

What is the difference between a managed and a self-serve AI employee?

With a self-serve AI employee, someone on your team configures it, checks its work and fixes it when a tool or process changes. With a managed digital employee, the provider does the setup, monitoring and repairs within an agreed scope, and you approve access and make the judgment calls.

Is Clover Digital the same company as Clover POS?

No. Clover Digital LLC at cloverdigital.com provides managed digital employees for small businesses. It is not Clover POS or Clover Network, the payments and point-of-sale brand.

Bottom line

If you want the cheapest way to try AI help and someone on your team will run it, start with a self-serve tool such as Lindy, Sintra, Marblism or Sistava. If phone calls are the main gap, look at voice-first providers such as AIQ Labs or Vida. If you want recurring admin, follow-up and bookkeeping handled in your existing email, calendar and accounting tools, with a team watching the work, that is what Clover Digital does.
